The Delaware IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) is a collaborative network of Delaware academic, health care and research institutions made up of six partner institutions: University of Delaware, Delaware State University, Christiana Care Health System, Delaware Technical Community College, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and Wesley College.
INBRE provides biomedical research opportunities for undergraduates; supporting early-career investigators on their quest to become independent researchers; and improving Delaware’s research infrastructure with a collaborative network of core facilities offering the latest research equipment.
The Delaware INBRE Summer Program is an undergraduate summer research program sponsored through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) – National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) through funding to the Delaware INBRE program. In a partnership with six state institutions, including Christiana Care Health System, Delaware Technical Community College, Delaware State University, Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children, the University of Delaware and Wesley College, selected undergraduate students are able to carry out independent research projects while studying full-time under a mentor to gain knowledge of research techniques and making unique scholarly or original impacts to the biomedical sciences. Regional summer opportunities are available in Delaware, Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire & Rhode Island.
Students are required to attend all mandatory INBRE events and also participate in an oral or poster presentation at the Research Symposium at the conclusion of the program. Students will be required to sign an agreement adhering to all terms and conditions of the program. Underrepresented minority groups and veterans are especially encouraged to apply.
